SHAUNA ELKIN, mezzo-soprano
Shauna Elkin was born In Cape Town, South Africa. She studied singing with Sarita Stern, Marinka Gureiwich and Xander Haagen. She obtained her opera diploma at the University of Cape Town. Commitments followed at the theatres of Wuppertal, Kaiserslautern, Braunschweig, Pforzheim, Valladolid, Pretoria and Cape Town. Her repertoire includes, among other roles, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Federica in Luisa Miller, Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Baba in The Medium, and Geneviève in Pelléas et Melisande. Since the 2004/05 season, Shauna Elkin belongs to the ensemble of the Tiroler Landestheater, and performed as Auntie in Peter Grimes and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, among other roles.
