ANNEEN LEEUWNER, soprano
Anneen Leeuwner was born in Carnarvon in the Cape Province, South Africa. She studied at the Universities of Rhodes and Stellenbosch, where she received academic and music courses. In 1965 she continued her studies at the Wisconsin University where she obtained her Masters Degree in Music, with majoring in Voice and Opera. During her stay in the United States she performed several operatic roles on stage, and had much success in solo concerts and television broadcasts. After her return to South Africa, she was heard in many radio broadcasts, and appeared in concerts with the SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) and PACT (Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal) orchestras.
