ELIZABETH LOMBARD, mezzo-soprano

After completing her B.Mus. degree at the University of Port Elizabeth, Elizabeth Lombard furthered her vocal studies under Werner Nel, obtaining a B.Mus. (Hon) degree from the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher education, and is currently studying under Emma Renzi.  In 1989 she was a participant in ‘Debut with Mimi’ at the State Theatre in Pretoria.  She joined PACT Opera in 1993.  She had numerous performances of Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Matthäus-Passion, Johannes-Passion and Weihnachtsoratorium, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and others, in all the major centres of South Africa.  More recently she was seen at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre as Ulrica in Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera and as Prince Orlofsky in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus.  Elizabeth also performs regularly for Salon Music and in other recitals.
