MIA OTTO, mezzo-soprano
Mia Otto began her voice training in 1989 under Emma Renzi at the Opera School, Pretoria Technikon (now known as the Tshwane University of Technology). She is currently studying with Louis Botha.
As a student Ms Otto participated in several productions, notably that of Prince Orlofsky in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus and in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi she played the role of one of the family members. Her debut with the Pro Musica Opera Company was as Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (2005).
Ms Otto does a lot of free-lance work and appears regularly as a singer in the Gauteng area. She sang the title role in the opera Mara composed by Marius de Bruyn.
She is passionate about classical music and especially opera and spends a great part of her existence being involved in the arts.
